Fibromyalgia? CFS? Pain?

More than 23.5 million of the US population suffers from autoimmune diseases. This causes inflammation and gives rise to many conditions such as Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and inflammatory pain conditions.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.

Symptom management may be improved through the use of medication, talk therapy, and stress reduction techniques.

Chronic Fatigue

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a condition marked by deep exhaustion, disrupted sleep patterns, pain, and other symptoms that are exacerbated by physical or mental exertion.

The primary indication is fatigue lasting more than six months, which tends to increase with physical or mental exertion but does not alleviate with rest.

Inflammation

Inflammation plays a crucial role in the healing process of your body, It occurs when inflammatory cells migrate to the site of injury or invasion by foreign bodies like bacteria.

If these cells persist for too long, they can result in chronic inflammation, which is often an indication of underlying health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.

All these conditions cause the following symptoms:
  • Fatigue and tiredness
  • Poor sleep quality
  • Brain fog
  • Extreme sensitivity
  • Widespread pain
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Headaches

Most users of LDN typically have no side effects because the dose is very low (hence Low dose naltrexone), however occasionally some users experience vivid dreams (dreams you can remember). Other very rare side effects include headache, abdominal discomfort, and sleep disturbance.

Results vary person to person however in order to gauge whether it is helping it would be beneficial to continually use LDN for at least8 to 12 weeks.

LDN is an off-label medication that helps increase endorphin levels in the body which subsequently helps reduce pain and inflammation. It is sometimes referred to as regulator of the immune system and research has shown that it may help various auto-immune conditions. As the name suggests, Low Dose naltrexone is a very small dose of naltrexone and is about ten times less than the high dose of naltrexone which is used FDA approved for opioid and alcohol addiction.

LDN works by temporarily increasing the endorphin levels in the brain(responsible for the ‘feel good’ factor) which orchestrates a series of immunological changes within the body which then modulates and controls many inflammatory processes in the body.

LDN has been shown in several research studies to be well tolerated and demonstrated some statistically significant relief of some symptoms of chronic pain.
